VICE-PRESIDENT
OF PROGRAMS
Job Description
Responsible to: Chapter President, Members of the Chapter’s Executive
Board, and Members of the Mt. Baker Chapter of SHRM/NHRMA.
Function: The
Vice-President of Programs is responsible for contacting and arranging for
speakers to address the monthly general membership meetings.
Duties:
1. Prepare a draft schedule of program meeting
dates and possible programs for presentation to the Board. This would be after the year-end Board
Retreat planning session where the new chapter Board discusses potential
topics.
2. Solicit chapter members to serve on the
program arrangements committee.
3. With the assistance of the President-Elect,
organize and implement any chapter-sponsored or co-sponsored workshops. Chair the workshop committee meetings and
delegate tasks.
4. Obtain speaker bio and prepare outline or
summary of all monthly luncheon presentations for publication in the newsletter
and/or website and forward them to the Communications / Public Relations
Coordinator and/or Web mistress.
5. Arrange for any items such as overhead,
tables, etc. that the monthly speaker would need for their presentation.
6. Introduce monthly speakers at the general
membership meetings.
7. Forward names and addresses of speakers to
the Secretary so he/she can mail out thank you letters.
8. Maintain notebook of monthly meeting
presentations and handouts as documenta-tion of the types of programs offered,
documentation for HRCI Recertification credits received and for Chapter Achievement
Plan points.
9. Attends meetings of the board, the
executive board, and general membership on regular basis in order to keep
informed of chapter activities and to report on areas involving programs.
10. Represents the Chapter in the Human
Resources community and actively promotes the awareness and support of its
activities.
11. Immediately upon leaving the office of VP
Programs, and no later than the January board meeting, forwards all materials
and/or information related to the position to the incoming Vice President of
Programs.
12. Uphold SHRM Code of Ethics and the Chapter
By-laws.
Qualifications: Must be a member of SHRM and possess up-to-date
knowledge in the general areas of Human Resource Management.
