PRESIDENT ELECT

Job Description

Responsible to:            Chapter President, Members of the Chapter’s Executive Board, Members of the Mt. Baker Chapter of SHRM/NHRMA.

 

Function:                      Assist the President in overseeing all the activities of the chapter.  In the absence of the President, perform all the Presidential responsibilities.

 

Duties:

 

1.       Attends (and preside over, if necessary) all monthly chapter Board meetings.

 

2.       Attends (and preside over, if necessary) all monthly luncheon meetings.

 

3.       Assists the VP of Programs in organizing and implementing any chapter-sponsored or co-sponsored workshops.   Also assist with workshop committee meetings and help in assigning tasks.

 

4.       Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the chapter. 

 

5.       Make every effort to attend the annual SHRM Leadership Conference in Alexandria Virginia, to receive training in volunteer leadership, running a chapter, and other information necessary to assume the position of Chapter President.

 

6.       Performs any special projects as assigned by the President.

 

7.       Try to attend a couple of the WA State Council meetings as President-Elect.

 

8.       Immediately upon leaving the office of President Elect, and no later than the January board meeting, forwards all materials and/or information related to the position to the incoming President Elect.

 

9.       Represents the Chapter in the Human Resources community and actively promotes the awareness and support of its activities.

 

10.   Uphold SHRM Code of Ethics and the Chapter By-laws.

 

11.   Completes other assignments as requested by the President or Chapter Board of Directors.

 

 

 

Qualifications:              Must be a member of SHRM and possess up-to-date knowledge in the general areas of Human Resource Management.  Must possess a PHR or SPHR certification.
