PROFESSIONAL
LIAISON TO STUDENT CHAPTER
Job Description
Responsible to: Chapter President, Members of the Chapter’s Executive
Board, and Members of the Mt. Baker Chapter of SHRM/NHRMA.
Function: The
Student Chapter Liaison serves as liaison between the Mt. Baker Chapter of
SHRM/NHRMA and the local student chapters and promotes and coordinates chapter
activities on behalf of the student chapters.
Duties:
1. Establishes and maintains contact with
student chapter leaders and the student chapter advisors.
2. Serves as a student chapter resource for
knowledge of SHRM/NHRMA organization and operations in order to assist in
chapter development and problem resolution.
3. Maintains a supply of the Mt. Baker Chapter
and SHRM national promotional materials, which can be used by student chapter
leaders for membership recruitment.
Promote and act as a professional chapter resource to the student
chapters.
4. Presents reports on student chapter
activities for presentation to the board.
5. Coordinates activities with the
professional chapter members on behalf of student chapters, such as internship
programs, conference sponsorship, etc.
6. Coordinates the annual student chapter
presentation at one of the monthly general membership meetings.
7. Assists student chapters in locating
speakers from the professional chapter and local business community for
meetings or training events.
8. Attends meetings of the board and general
membership on a regular basis in order to keep informed of chapter activities
and to report on areas involving the student chapters.
9. Assist the next year’s student liaison in
getting up to speed in their position and introduce them to the student chapter
officers and advisors.
10. Represents the Chapter in the Human
Resources community and actively promotes the awareness and support of its
activities.
11. Immediately upon leaving the office of
Student Liaison, and no later than the January board meeting, forwards all
materials and/or information related to the position to the incoming Student
Liaison.
12. Uphold SHRM Code of Ethics and the Chapter
By-laws.
Qualifications: Must be a member of SHRM and possess up-to-date
knowledge in the general areas of Human Resource Management.
