EDUCATION ADVOCATE

Job Description

Responsible to:            Chapter President, Members of the Chapter’s Executive Board, and Members of the Mt. Baker Chapter of SHRM/NHRMA.

 

Function:                      The Education Advocate serves the Chapter by managing the scholarship program, internship program, and community outreach efforts. 

 

Duties:

 

1.       Develop scholarship application evaluation criteria and design the appropriate materials.

 

2.       Promote the scholarship program and internship program to local colleges and universities.

 

3.       Evaluates scholarship applications and recommend recipients.

 

4.       Makes recommendations on changes to scholarship program (i.e., scholarship amount, number of recipients).

 

5.       Oversees the internship program.

 

6.       Recommends community service projects to be supported by the chapter.

 

7.       Represents the chapter in the community to organizations that are in need of professional human resources advice, assistance, speakers, etc.

 

8.       Informs board and membership of professional development workshops or seminars that are happening in the community.

 

9.       Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the chapter.

 

10.   Attends meetings of the board and general membership on regular basis in order to keep informed of chapter activities.

 

11.   Immediately upon leaving the office of Education Advocate, and no later than the January board meeting, forwards all materials and/or information related to the position to the incoming Education Advocate.

 

12.   Represents the Chapter in the Human Resources community and actively promotes the awareness and support of its activities.

 

13.   Uphold SHRM Code of Ethics and the Chapter By-laws.

 

 

 

Qualifications:              Must be a member of SHRM and possess up-to-date knowledge in the general areas of Human Resource Management.
