DIVERSITY COORDINATOR

Job Description

Responsible to:            Chapter President, Members of the Chapter’s Executive Board, and Members of the Mt. Baker Chapter of SHRM/NHRMA.

 

Function:                      The Diversity Coordinator serves the Chapter by providing ongoing information regarding the diversity programs and classes to the board and the general membership.   This is an appointed position.

Duties:

 

1.       Develops and/or distributes information and materials to chapter meetings to promote diversity in the workplace.

 

2.       Publicizes to chapter members examples of successful diversity efforts being undertaken by chapter members in their particular workplaces.

 

3.       Identifies minorities and other individuals with diverse backgrounds in the local area who might be interested in joining the chapter.

 

4.       Identifies current chapter members with diverse backgrounds who might be interested in volunteer leadership opportunities.

 

5.       Be available for presentations if and when appropriate, or help to identify both diversity programs and speakers with diverse backgrounds for workshops, conferences or chapter programs.

 

6.       Provides timely and noteworthy diversity articles for Chapter Newsletter and website.

 

7.       Networks with other Diversity Coordinators from other chapters within the state.

 

8.       Coordinates efforts in developing diversity initiatives that can serve as models for other chapters.

 

9.       Attends meetings of the board and general membership on regular basis in order to keep informed of chapter activities.

 

10.   Immediately upon leaving the office of Diversity Coordinator, and no later than the January board meeting, forwards all materials and/or information related to the position to the incoming Diversity Coordinator

 

11.   Uphold SHRM Code of Ethics and the Chapter By-laws.

 

12.   Completes other assignments as requested by the President or Chapter Board of Directors.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:              Must be a member of SHRM and possess up-to-date knowledge in the general areas of Human Resource Management.
