Federal Legislative Action Alert: YOUR ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED!  This week, the U.S. House of Representatives will consider a bill to limit the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) authority to veto a private employer’s decision on where to locate its employees. Mandatory Paid Sick Leave in Washington - please note that comments were made to me at last night’s Community Forum on Paid Sick Leave in Seattle that the Seattle Healthy Workforce Coalition intends to bring mandatory employer paid sick leave to other cities in Washington (Bellevue, Tacoma, Spokane, Vancouver, Everett, etc.) after success is obtained here. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and its companion bill, the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 include a small employer health care tax credit to help certain employers afford the cost of covering their workers. An employer must meet three qualifications in order to be eligible for the credit. click here

To find contact information for your current legislators, including email addresses and web addresses, click here

  • Take a few moments to customize your email or letter because form letters are not given as much attention.  Keep your written correspondence brief.  Legislators don't have time to wade through lengthy messages.  If you don't receive a response from your legislator within 10-15 days, send your correspondence again.  They may not have received your original message.
