Membership

The Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 210,000 individual members, the Society serves the needs of HR professionals by providing the most essential and comprehensive set of resources available. As an influential voice, SHRM is committed to advancing the human resource profession to ensure that HR is an essential and effective partner in developing and executing organizational strategy. Founded in 1948, SHRM currently has more than 500 affiliated chapters within the United States and members in more than 100 countries.

Being a member of the Mt. Baker Chapter and of SHRM provides the following:

An opportunity to network and foster personal contacts with professionals in the HR field and community.

Provides monthly program meetings that address timely human resources topics that are of the most concern. The chapter then works to provide speakers at these meetings as well as other educational venues such as workshops and seminars.

Membership in SHRM also: Entitles you to SHRM publications which allow you to keep up to date on techniques and methods in managing human resources as well as stay current on developments related to the field itself. You will also receive several bi-monthly reports related to emerging HR issues. Some titles include Diversity, The Legal Report and many others. Membership helps keep you up to date and informed on current legislation affecting the field of Human Resources and business and gives you access to a wealth of informational resources through SHRM's information desk (1-800-283-SHRM), Fast Fax, and Web Page (www.shrm.org). Membership provides you with an opportunity to attend the SHRM Annual Conference and Exposition as well as other regional conferences, and to meet and network with other HR professionals from your own community and around country.

Member Criteria: $160/year ($145 for the first year).
